Located in Wollongbar within Ballina Shire, Eden Academy is a childcare facility developed to meet the growing needs of families.
J&M Bashforth & Sons was engaged as the civil contractor to complete the essential infrastructure works required across the site. The project included bulk earthworks, sewer main extension, stormwater infrastructure, including stormwater pump, and roadworks, including car park.
One of the key challenges on the project was navigating existing underground services, including HV electricity and trunk water main supplying all of Wollongbar. To make things even more challenging shelf rock was encountered in the same area meaning damage to the services was too high risk for traditional rock hammering. J&M Bashforth & Sons worked closely with consulting engineers to redesign a solution that also navigated the risk of damaging existing services.
