J&M Bashforth & Sons has been operating across Byron Bay and the wider shire for over 80 years.
What started with one man and an old dodge truck has grown into the area’s leading civil works business, trusted to deliver hundreds of significant projects across the region.
Today, the business is still built on the same principles it was founded on: Show up, do the job properly and stand by the result.

With a team of around 35 and a fleet of over 30 machines including excavators, graders, dozers, trucks & more, J&M Bashforth & Sons delivers projects at scale while maintaining a hands-on approach.

Our Story
J&M Bashforth & Sons was founded by Jack & Melanie Bashforth in 1946, and the family has never looked back.
The business passed into the hands of Jack and Melanie’s son, John, and the baton has since passed to Luke Bashforth, who is continuing the family legacy of quality projects delivered with integrity & enthusiasm.
